Yuya Watanabe

Yuya is from Tochigi in Japan. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Yamagata University (Japan) in 2019 and a Master’s degree from The University of Tokyo (Japan) in 2021. In 2024, he earned his Ph.D. degree at The University of Tokyo; his doctorate was entitled ‘Self-Assembly and Degradation of Condensation Polymers Containing Aromatic Mesogens’.

At The University of Tokyo, Yuya was a project member of the ‘Advanced Human Resource Development Leading Green Transformation (SPRING GX)’, a project of the Support for Pioneering Research Initiated by the Next Generation (SPRING) Program funded by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).

Yuya joined the Dove Group in April 2024 to work on the EPSRC project ‘Catalytic Chemical Sorting of Intractably Mixed Plastics’ in collaboration with the University of Bath’s Centre for Sustainable Chemical Technologies.
