Dr Emma Catterson
Emma grew up on the West Coast of Scotland, and has also lived in Edinburgh. She graduated in 2020 with an MSc in Chemistry from Heriot-Watt University; her Masters project was ‘Novel Synthetic Routes to Arene Ruthenacarboranes’, undertaken with Professor Alan Welch. Emma’s PhD on the depolymerisation of polyolefins will ultimately contribute to the reduction of plastic waste.
In May 2024, Emma begins work on a multidisciplinary EPSRC project, ‘Co-creating A Digital Platform For The Rapid Development Of Sustainable Polymer Products’, in collaboration with industry partner Aquapak Polymers Ltd, a Birmingham-based manufacturer of advanced materials for the circular economy.
