Dr Kyle Batchelor

Kyle Batchelor is from Johannesburg, South Africa. He completed his Ph.D. in 2024 at the University of Johannesburg, where his work focused on developing polymer‑supported mononuclear transition‑metal Schiff base and Amine complexes for the selective cleavage of the peptide bond in L‑carnosine under heterogeneous conditions. His Ph.D. was supervised by Prof. Charmaine Arderne and Prof. Manuel Fernandes, and was supported by the GES UJ 4IR Scholarship (Global Excellence and Stature).

Kyle joined the University of Birmingham in 2024 as part of the EPSRC‑funded project “Thermally Responsive Supports for Enhanced Efficiency in PET Depolymerisation.” He works jointly with the School of Chemistry (Prof. Andrew Dove) and the School of Chemical Engineering (Prof. Joseph Wood), focusing on the design and evaluation of thermo-responsive catalysts for sustainable polymer recycling.
