Xin is originally from Shandong, China. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Beihang University in Beijing in 2020, where she developed an interest in polymers and worked on hydrogel-based flexible sensors in Prof. Mingjie Liu’s lab. She then worked as a research assistant at Fudan University in Shanghai from 2020 to 2021, focusing on controlled radical polymerization in collaboration with Prof. Xiangcheng Pan and Prof. Krzysztof Matyjaszewski.
Xin moved to Hong Kong to pursue her PhD at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), where she was awarded the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) and conducted research under the supervision of Prof. Ben Zhong Tang. Her doctoral research pivoted toward organic luminescent materials, encompassing the design of room-temperature phosphorescence materials and stimuli-responsive materials based on new photochemical reactions, as well as photophysical regulation. She particularly enjoys analyzing the photophysical mechanisms underlying these systems, with a focus on the regulation of triplet excitons in organic materials. After completing her PhD in 2025, she remained in Prof. Tang’s lab as a postdoctoral researcher for one year.
In September 2026, driven by her long-standing interest in polymers, Xin joined the Dove Group as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Research Fellow, working in the interdisciplinary areas of luminescent materials and polymer synthesis.
Outside the lab, Xin enjoys swimming, hiking, travelling, and watching movies.
