Group Data Access

The group data are stored on the Research Data Store (RDS) from the Birmingham Environment for Academic Research (BEAR) . A How-to is available on Birmingham website here.

Once you have been granted access to the group RDS (ask the group IT responsible), you can mount the group data folder as explained below:

(For access to the joint group drive, replace “dovea-group” by “dovea-oreillyr”)

Windows

• Open the File Explorer
• Right-click on “This PC” and select “Map network drive…”
• Choose a letter for the drive (recommended is H:)
• Enter the folder path: “\\its-rds.bham.ac.uk\2018\dovea-group”
• Click Finish
• Enter your credentials as “ADF\username”

MacOS

• Open the Finder
• Choose “Go” and then “Connect to Server” (shortcut “Command-K”)
• Enter the folder path: “smb://ADF\@its-rds.bham.ac.uk/2018/dovea-group”
• Enter your credentials as “ADF/username” (or ADF.bham.ac.uk/ if it doesn’t work)

Linux

• Open a terminal
• Type “smbclient //its-rds.bham.ac.uk/2018/dovea-group -m SMB3 -u adf\\”
